All CPA Australia members must complete 2 verifiable CPD hours per calendar year on ethics-related topics, and 10 hours every three years (per triennium). This is part of the 120 hours of CPD required per triennium.
CPA Australia mandated this ethics component as part of their CPD (Continuing Professional Development) and it applies from 1 October 2023.
What if I have studied Ethics & Governance?
If you have studied Ethics & Governance then this will count towards 6 hours of this CPD.
You will still need to do 2 hours of Ethics CPD in the other two years of your triennium (3 year period).
CPA Australia Ethics CPD Requirements
i) 2 hours of Ethics CPD per calendar year
ii) 10 hours of Ethics CPD per 3 year period (triennium). A triennium always starts on 1 January.
If you joined CPA before 30 June of a year, then the 3 year period starts on 1 January of that year.
If you joined CPA after 30 June, the 3 year period starts on 1 January of the following year.
Example:
You joined CPA on 15 April 2024. Your 3 year triennium is from 1 January 2024 – 31 December 2026. You must complete 2 hours of Ethics CPD during 2024, 2025 and 2026, with a total of 10 hours over the 3 years.
